Our body is exactly this…designed to heal! God is an amazing engineer. He created our body to self-heal. Even after mechanical, emotional and environmental stressors beat us down, the cells repair and the structure continues!
However, like the saying goes “too much of anything is not good,” too much abuse to our body and mind is also not good. Overindulgence of alcohol, foods that are loaded with animal fat, chemicals, toxins, etc., medications and more, will cause our body to reach a point when it will say “STOP…NO MORE.” Our brain & body, together, know when we have become overwhelmed, and symptoms soon start to appear. Some symptoms may require medical assistance, and others, due to early warning signs, can be resolved by us immediately eliminating our bad habits.
Can you think of ways that you can apply noninvasive, relaxing and nurturing energy therapy to yourself? If you were able to restore physical, emotional, mental and spiritual balance and support self-healing, would you? Deep relaxation can accelerate this for sure. Most day-to-day issues in life can be put aside, we just refuse to accept that. The world will go on, your place of employment will go on, everything will go on without you…especially for just a short vacation! We, however, will not go on if we do not take care of ourselves!
Eating right and exercise are always number one. You wouldn’t put crappy gas into your car, would you? Especially if you want peak performance. Your body needs, requires and works best on pure, whole food, direct from Mother Nature. BOOST yourself with God’s goodness. We also need to relax our mind and body – breathe, breathe, and breathe again – slow, deep, and meaningful. Yoga is truly amazing. If you have never done yoga, I highly recommend it. Something so simple and pure yet has results beyond comprehension. Again, our body and mind react best to purity.
We all know that after exercise we feel totally awesome, right? That’s because it wakes up and shakes up our entire being. It’s healthy, it’s invigorating, it’s exciting and it frees endorphins within us – now we’re talking! We also feel great when we eat wholesome goodness, like a salad loaded with a variety of lettuces, herbs, and fresh vegetables. Compare that to how you feel after you’ve stuffed yourself with bread & butter, a gigantic steak with all that fat which ‘gives it the flavor’ (yes it GIVES the flavor but TAKES away a piece of our health), mashed potatoes made with heavy whipping cream and tons of butter, and throw in a dessert just in case all of that wasn’t enough to satisfy your hunger and cravings – (me rubbing my chin and thinking “Hmmm…isn’t gluttony one of the seven deadly sins?”). If I remember correctly, the feeling is quite miserable. We’re stuffed to the gills, can hardly breathe, and all we want to do is go crash. Wow…how exciting. NOT!
Quite easily put, our mind and body are designed to function in an optimal way, but it’s up to us to facilitate and ensure this. Another great way to apply therapy to ourselves is by getting ‘away from it all.’ I know it’s easier said than done, but when something is a priority to us we find the way to do it. A simple day trip to a place we can capture tranquility and the natural beauty that Mother Nature has to offer, will revive us in such a way that we’ll want to do it more regularly!
Yesterday for lunch, Lee and I took pleasure in a savory and quite flavorful salad topped with tofu and other delicious goodies. I must say it was quite scrumptious!
For dinner we had grilled asparagus! I wish you could have tasted it! JUST asparagus, seasoned with some garlic, olive oil and lavender pepper, but the aroma was unbelievable and the taste was crazy good. All these delectable, ambrosial foods that we have at our fingertips, why would we want to immerse our food with ranch dressing, butters, goos, all sorts of stuff? Not only is all that unhealthy, but the natural flavors of the food get tossed aside. What a shame.
We also finished up the last of the roasted veggies I made earlier this week, and enjoyed another sandwich with aioli and pesto rubbed on it! Simple and good. It’s like FREE and EASY! Who would want anything different?
Happy weekend to you! Eat well, stay well and LIVE well!
