My grandson, Aidan, turns 3 today. Wow…just think back to when you were three, for some of us that may have been quite some time ago – 🙂 When I was 3, I remember wanting to do everything my mom did. If she ironed, I wanted to iron; if she swept the floors then I wanted to sweep the floors; if she wanted to fold clothes, then guess what? Yep, I wanted to fold clothes. Haha! Kids…they’re so funny.

Aidan’s been special from the day he was born, after all, he is my very first grandchild. When he was first born, he would love when I wrapped him tightly (like a pig in a blanket), and rock & sing to him in the very rocking chair that my dad bought for my mom when she was pregnant with me.

When Aidan first learned to walk, he’d go grab grandpa Lee by the hand and bring him to sit down on the floor with him. There they would stack blocks, and then knock them down! Aidan would laugh laugh laugh and somehow manage to say “BREAK, BREAK,” and then they’d start all over again.

As Aidan grew, he liked following grandpa Lee around in the yard. Aidan’s favorite thing to do when he came over to visit was ‘sweeping’ the patio. Grandpa Lee bought him his own big push broom. Aidan would play with the rocks, and then sweep them away. A boy who can entertain himself this way is a boy after my own heart!

As Aidan got a little older and graduated the broom, grandpa Lee showed him how to water the plants; there was no end, he got hooked and would want to do this for hours.

Soon Aidan learned every song from The Wiggles, and every body gesture to go along with them. Among his favorites were: Hot Potato; Shaky Shaky and Fruit Salad.

As the days ticked by, Aidan discovered that secret hiding places can be a pretty cool thing. It’s become a family tradition to crawl under the dining room table with him, along with every pillow and stuffed animal in sight and just hang for a while.

Aidan learns about how mommies can somehow have a baby in their tummy as it grows…grows…and grows even more.

tick tock, tick tock

Aidan learns life with a sister. It took him a while to warm up to ‘sissy’ but he loves her very much and gets an ‘A’ for the big brother sacrifice!
